IOT Security : how IoT solutions should be designed to bring trust and enable the full potential of IoT

 

Abstract:

 

The speaker will first make a status on current IoT security, and highlight main classes of attacks. He will then discuss the trust properties required for a safe IoT ecosystem, and how to prepare for the bad.

 

Bio: 

 

Gerald is a Principal solution architect with Gemalto M2M group, in charge of advanced technical studies, relationships with partner companies, and expert in end to end security. With over eighteen years in Gemalto, he has worked in different positions and combines strong knowledge in the fields of GSM, automotive, M2M, and Identity. Gerald represented Gemalto at the ETSI/3GPP standards committee, contributed to create the first SIM Alliance specifications, and co-chaired the authentication workgroup of Trusted Computing Group. He participated in several European funded projects and co-authored various papers and patents. Before joining Gemalto, he co-founded an independent software company developing telecom products.

 

 

Laurent Malier

Some digital technologies to enable Internet of Things

 

Bio:

 

Dr. Laurent Malier is the General manager of Digital Front-End Manufacturing and Technology Technology & Design Platforms of ST Microelectronics, France. Prior to this position, he was Chief Executive Officer at the Laboratory for Electronics and Information Technology (LETI) research institute based in France, which is owned by CEA and operates within MINATEC pole of excellence.
Dr. Malier graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and received his MS in Solid State Physics from the University of Paris-Orsay in 1990. His thesis covered the synthesis of nanoporous oxides and their applications, and he researched semiconductor nanocristals, fullerenes and optical glasses. In 1996, he was in charge of R&D strategy and programs in electronics at the French Ministry of Defence, where he launched developments in uncooled infrared imagers and high-power gallium nitride RF devices. He also chaired the European Cooperation of DODs in Electronic Components. In 2001, Dr. Malier joined Alcatel Optronics, a public company producing optoelectronic components for optical telecommunications, in charge of new product development.

He took over the semiconductor business unit which became Avanex in 2003, and which he eventually developed into the wafer service business. He joined LETI in 2005 as VP Strategy and Programs.
